Certification Authority registration now open for U.S. Calling Number Verification Service

December 12, 2019

Registration is now open for companies interested in becoming a Certification Authority for the nation’s Calling Number Verification Service, which is based on the SHAKEN framework to authenticate Caller ID and mitigate illegal robocalling. As the Policy Administrator in the U.S., iconectiv is responsible for coordinating, registering and verifying Certification Authorities via a tightly controlled process as defined by the Secure Telephone Identity Governance Authority. The Secure Telephone Identity Certification Authorities (STI-CA) are a critical component in the Calling Number Verification Service and Caller ID authentication. The STI-CAs will be responsible for assigning digital certificates to authorized service providers that will be used to ensure that calls receive the proper Caller ID.

Companies interested in becoming a STI-CA must submit an application and required documentation, as outlined in the STI-CA guidelines.

STI Certification Authority Agreement Available

December 12, 2019

Today, the Secure Telephone Identity Governance Authority (STI-GA) and iconectiv, the US Secure Telephone Identity Policy Administrator (STI-PA), announced the availability of the Certification Authority Agreement (CAA). The CAA is a standardized, signed agreement between all approved Certification Authorities (STI-CA) and the STI-PA. Earlier this month, registration opened for companies interested in becoming a Certification Authority for the nation’s Calling Number Verification Service, which is based on the SHAKEN framework to authenticate Caller ID and mitigate illegal robocalling. Following approval of their Certificate Practice Statement (CPS), the CAA is the last step for prospective Certification Authorities to officially participate in this service.

Prospective Certification Authorities currently participating in the CPS vetting process that are interested in reviewing the CAA, may request access by emailing iconectiv at STI-PA@iconectiv.com.
